Misheard words
Apr. 22nd, 2011 01:31 pmOkay, so I was a bit disappointed to find out that what I read as _The Official Llamas Guide_ was actually about natural birth, not the smart and fuzzy critters from the Andes, but really, _French Maid Simple_ is a book I think many people other than myself would be interested in reading--a sort of "Blood Simple" with French maids, n'est ce pas?
Misheard word: chippot
Apr. 23rd, 2010 04:56 pmpronounced CHIP-oh
defintion: a Southwester/Mexican monster, part coyote, part man; magical, vicious, prone to eating the eyes from its victims, ecept in the spring, when it wanders the wasteland howling at the fool moon, looking for lone young girls out walking, which it kidnaps and brings back toits lair until they either fall in love with him or kill him or both.
Ballads about the chippot fall into two categories: sad slow love ballads or fast frenzied descriptions of blood and death
Or, at least, those were the sort of descriptions I was expecting when I went to check the word.
Sadly, once I spelled it out, it turned out to be "chapeau," which is not a creature known for its lonely love howls sung tot he fool moon or its frenzied attacks on human eyeballs.n.
