Favorite cold weather books for the dog days of summer?

The dog days of summer typically make me reread books with cold weather Nordic settings. My favorite is _Smilla's Sense of Snow_, and LJ user NEGothick just reminded me of another one, _The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo_.

Do other folks have favorite books with Nordic or North Country settings?

There's a near-future horror novel called _The Ice People_ by Maggie Gee. The Big Ice has conquered Britain, and most of the oldsters are gone, so it's got a Lord-of-the-Snowbanks thing going on. I enjoyed it a lot! It's a British paperback, probably findable in the dealers' room at Readercon.
