I know, I know, but I've just always loved this song, maybe because it is one of the darkest things Joel has ever written, while also being kind of an entire mini-saga of NYC during those years, with a little bit of prophecy thrown in. It was probably a good thing for him that he stopped doing so much coke and began writing more love songs.
