Oooooo!
Date: 2022-03-06 09:57 pm (UTC)Checked out that https://www.deque.com/axe-con/ site, and there's a presentation I want to attend at every hour of the day.
But even more exciting is that after two years of messing around with online cons, they've created a site design that makes sense to me.
Once I created a login (super fast flow there) I get to the main page:
https://www.deque.com/axe-con/schedule/
Where I squeaked with joy: the first control lets me filter by theme. The second is "set your time zone". Ahhhhhhhhhh! I won't have to spend the entire event with a time calculator trying to do math my brain lost the capacity for back in the 90s.
All the items broken down by time. Too many events group by theme, requiring parallel scrolling back and forth.
When I open an item, in addition to a panel description, there's a link to slides, the stream text (captions), as well a link where the archived video will go -- plus the crucial "add to my schedule" option.
Participants links out to their descriptions -- and to complete the journey, their page links back to their panels as well as an "add this to my panel" control.
This circularity supports the variety of ways people interact with panels. Someone can choose based on the topic, or the panelists' biographies.
Every which way the data is sliced, I get a chance to favorite/star/add to my sessions.
By reviewing the events the pages are in my browser's cache, making it easier to find the archived info.
