Kes: I do feel a weird sort of pride that it's a bouncer from Boston who has raised the stakes a little bit higher, but every time the writer states that students don't have access to some particular tech or material, I just chortle.

The image descriptions on the photos seemed particularly deft to me -- I'd appreciate your take.

I can't tell if there are image descriptions, everything I read seems like straight text. Are the images labeled "image"? I've switched to the Brave browser, which maybe shows the page differently. On the other hand, I finally get search results with *no Pinterest boards*, so that is pretty amazing.

I used Inspect Element to dig into the HTML and they're using <srcset> which switches different images based on user's viewport, which is wacky. The only alt was empty.

The image descriptions are in the <figcaption>s.

So there's this paragraph:

On fake IDs, the laminate is often not so well stuck on. The laminate gets folds or dirt underneath it, especially around the edges. It also frequently pokes a tiny bit beyond the edges, which you can see if you flash a light directly on the edges.

and then a super close up photo, with this caption centered underneath

The dirt has gotten underneath this cheap laminate.

Which reminds me: I've used blockquotes. Can you ask JAWS to announce that format?

Okay, I didn't get the caption at all in that article.

I tend not to provide Jaws with any formatting rules because, in my past experience, the first time you get an update or something, it disappears and you have to do it all over again. I could be wrong, that could be from the bad old days, and I'm just being lazy, but I'm more inclined to stop every once in a while and use my Jaws cursor to check on the formatting in whatever I'm reading, so that I can look for things like blockquote or whatever.

The search engine I'm using is called Startpage, btw.

When I quacked "Swiss Search Engine" I got the net-typical weirdness

The reason I ask is I want Voice Dream Reader to announce the start and end of blockquotes -- my tyro move to add tiny text ("begin blockquote" and "blockquote ends") to my blockquote content turns out to have been a semi-useful, if ungraceful, hack.
