Request for color descriptions

This is a picture of the coral reefs in the Red Sea off the coast of Saudi Arabia, taken from space.

I don't want a precise description of the detailed forms, just the colors: I'm thinking of trying to capture them in a tie-dye later during the summer.

Oooh, that would probably be an interesting color scheme.

First off, the colors are all a bit muted.

Much of the water is a deep, deep grean, a sort of mix between forest green and (argh, where are my crayons?!) the color of the wax of a teal crayon -- how the crayon looks, not how it draws. That deep.

The land looks mostly like a sand color, with some lighter spots and a very few bits that get darker like mud, almost. If you have a fine grit sandpaper, and bits were more worn than others, that might represent the color variations.

Where the land and the water overlap, you get a lighter version of the green over a sandy, not white, background.

There is also one spot in the Red Sea where the water goes to a dark blue rather than the green. It's subtle, but I think the deep water there is also bluer.

I hope these references make sense! I would really like to see a) how other people describe it, too, and b) the tie dye when you're done.
