I've been special ordering Ambutech canes from Canada for decades, but I guess now you can get them from the Carroll Center. They come in crazy bright colors, though I don't see my purple one there, and of course the glow-in-the-dark stars and planets are a custom job...

How long does a collapsible cane last for you?
(I've used both collapsible and one-piece walking sticks. I love how quiet and durable the one-piece are, and they're a total pain in the ass to store when I'm not walking.)

Date: 2020-10-10 11:12 am (UTC)I know other cane users mak their canes last much longer by doing small repairs, but the usual sign of cane death for me was when the paracord inside got too stretched for the cane to snap open when unfolded. The cane companies sell repair kits, but I've noticed they never sell the paracord. I have a roll of purple paracord that I bought on Amazon which I'm going to try when this purple cane begins to wear out.
Also, I keep ordering replacement cane tips, which then disappear into unlocatable corners of the house, so I have to buy more. Over the past year I've found about twelve, and I'm sure there are at least a dozen more in the back of various closets.
I agree that the one-piece canes are usually preferable, but a bother to stow when you go places.

I'm imagining that a sufficiently large stack of replacement cane tips can reach fission and transubstantiate into a new cane.
