I'm always bemused at folks marketing the benefits of games -- aren't relaxation and socializing good enough values?

Let me answer your question with a question: Isn't teaching people with disabilities to use technology so that they can obtain services, learn, and mitigate social isolation enough of a goal? Why is the priority always pushing them into working, when they are already disabled, and often already dealing with pain and limited access to travel?

Okay, that was two questions, but the bottom line is the same: the bottom line. A capitalist culture always requires a measurable profit, and if you don't work, you still need to prove your worth.

I just read Terry pratchett's _Unseen Academicals_, and the protagonist's obsession with proving his worth to compensate for being perceived as "less than human" really struck home.
