It's National Praline Day!

Praline, btw, are also known as Kestrell krack, and the ones from Southern Candymakers in New Orleans are *the best pralines ever*.
Here is their page on the history of the praline

Why don’t I have a chocolate icon?

I totally agree with this sentiment.

There’s a newish store In town called Nutkrack which makes exactly two things: candied pecans and candies pecans with chili (of course they call them Firekrack).

I’ve not yet had the pleasure of tasting them — they’re across the street from the official chocolatier of WisCon, Gail Ambrosious, so I always end up ever to her side.

One thing makes me hesitate: they’re vegan, so no butter. I’m happy to not eat cream (which rubs my belly the wrong way) but no butter seems a bridge too far.
