I'm writing a paper on how health care providers can find out what tech PWD need, and I keep reading that there are certified assistive technology professionals who conduct interviews with PWD in order to make these determinations.

My personal memory is of someone at the Carroll Center deciding that I didn't really know anything about computers, so I should be given the basic intro but didn't actually need a computer.

My questions are: 1. did you ever speak to a person who really knew about the tech in order to decide whether you quote needed unquote it?
2. Did you come out of such an interview, whether conducted by a knowledgeable ATP or just some counselor who didn't know how to run Windows, feeling as if your level of knowledge and need had not been successfully addressed?
3. Were there questions you feel should have been asked and weren't?
I would really like to hear from anyone who has had this experience, because I am trying to think about how to connect PWD with the tech that would be most useful to them.
