Sunday in Boston there is scheduled to be a rally in support of science. I'm really hoping there will be a significant subset of people carrying signs that say
"Why are you trying to keep this curiosity door locked?"

The man in the beginning of the clip is a science teacher, and the kid is Dustin (played by an actor who really does have a bone disease that he talks about as a character), and Dustin and his friends are trying to help a girl who escaped from a government facility trying to exploit her psychic powers. I'm surprised you didn't hear anything about the character of Dustin: he did a lot of disability awareness for kids. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvSOyy7rnvI
