So I was at the clinic this morning getting prescriptions tweaked and, while we were waiting around, Alexx kindly put away the handheld device upon which he was playing a game so that he could attempt to amuse me (in retrospect, this makes me sound very similar to the young children described in the story to which I link below).

Anyway, Alexx started to read to me from a poster on the wall, and the question came up of what does the word kaput mean?

Yes, and ... "kaput" means lost or dead in Yiddish (and it's migrated back to German)
