How do I log on to a password-protected wireless network with a Windows XP machine using Firefox?

I was told that the field for entering the password would appear when I opened my browser, but that is not happening, and I've looked through various settings for Firefox, Windows Security Center, etc., for possible locations to enter the password, but no luck.
