To tell the truth, I didn't manage to make it beyond the first couple of chapters of _The Day of the Triffids_. I was already pretty depressed by _Blindness_, and the first couple of chapters had all these people--a doctor, a bar owner, and his entire family--who felt the only reasonable response to becoming blind was to kill themselves, and that was kind of depressing. I also began but didn't finish a new blind apocalypse story titled _Blind Panic_ by Graham Masterton (2010). This last was so full of stereotypes of all sorts that I didn't feel it really qualified as "good" writing. However, I'm hoping to give Day of the Triffids another try sometimein the future.
