For me personally, I acknowledge that those are personal decisions that describers make, and I'm always amused by the variations in descriptions that people give the same image. I tool the Alt Poetry workshop and, even with people who are aware of biases and trying to avoid inserting them, it's not possible, because that's how we make choices all the time, second by second. I myself often prefer that describers just go with "person" because, unless you ask the individual how they identify, adding details such as a beard or breasts may not be part of their gender identity. Also, there is a practical aspect of being concise, which I favor over too many details, unless the image ispart of a bio or memoir, or something else where how a person chooses to look might be considered an extremely important element of tthe work that image is part of. You need to balance how much information becomes too much information, when the tree begins to be lost for the forest.
