Well, the TTS engines probably don't know how to pronounce it correctly either!

(Just back from testing a bunch of macOS voices: even the high-quality Irish English voice, Moira, says "bo dran" instead of "boor on")

And oh my gosh, the transcript for the Udemy bodhran course is pretty hilarious: the instructor also has an Irish accent, and the speech recognition managed to spell bodhran differently in just about every instance of the word, along with many other words. I'll try to do a copy and paste, because it is truly a thing of wonder.
