Cute monster stories, please

It's definitely one of those days which, if I had eyeballs, I would spend the day looking at cute cat pictures.

But stories with cute monsters would really make me feel better.

Any suggestions?

Have you inhaled Murderbot yet? He's his own monster, and he has to deal with another sentient AI spaceship he lovingly dubs "Asshole Research Transport".

I'm not sure how you define monster, but have you read "The Tale of the Three Beautiful Raptor Sisters, and the Prince Who Was Made of Meat"?

I have inhaled all of Murderbot. I keep a list of release dates for books I am particularly impatient for, and so Murderbot was inhalled within the first 24 hours of it hitting Bookshare.

Interestingly, I think of Murderbot as "they," but sometimes also as "she," she because the experience of being an expert in your field and then having people ignore your advice seems like such a female experience.

Good point! I also think if Murderbot as agender, so let's call that pronoun a typo.

Also, if you haven't read "If at First You Don’t Succeed, Try, Try Again" by Zen Cho, you might want to, though it moves from cute to very emotionally affecting by the end. To say more would be a spoiler. There was a point – the bit with the tenure committee – where I saw exactly where this was going and said, "OMG this story is going to break my heart, isn't it" and I was precisely correct. Very recommended in general, but maybe not what you're looking for if you don't want emotional heavy-lifting.
