Nnedi Okorafor's new memoir, _Broken Places and Outer Spaces_, is due to be out on June 18, and it is my most anticipated book of this summer. Until a few weeks ago, I had never heard about how Okorafor was an athlete until she became paralyzed after an operation, and it was this disability that changed her course toward becoming a writer.
