I'm looking forward to reading Disabled People Destroy Science Fiction, even if I'm a little frustrated at some aspects of how the Kickstarter was run. Still, no reason to hold that against the stories! And I do have my copy now, finally.

I don't know if it's helpful to you or not, but in my recent "personal notes on where to find the various works nominated for the Hugos" post, when I note something as "available in audio" what I mean is that it's downloadable from NLS BARD.

I managed to completely miss the DPDSF Kickstarter and magazine until recently. How was the Kickstarter conducted?

Right now I'm finding it difficult to access NLS audio, due to a crappy ebook reader, but thank you for the link of accessible format nominations.

Oh, ugh. I read your follow-up post about the Blaze and it sounds like a nightmare.

All my BARD experience is with the iOS app; if you have an iOS device I'm happy to try to provide tech support there, or if you have an Android device I can ask someone for advice. Anything to do with third-party players makes me want to back away slowly. I hear a lot of horror stories.

I'm using an Android phone, but the new laptop Alexx bought me to replace my crappy assistive tech ebook reader is going to be running Windows, and I plan on doing most of my reader from that (it's a Del that's about the same size as a Mac Air). I also recently bought a Kindle, which has Alexa, which can be used to read Kindle books. I would have thought Bookshare would have a reading app that works on a Kindle, but no; instead one is told to copy and paste from an HTML file into a text file and save it.

One of the things that bugs me about this kind of advice for accessing books is that no one ever mentions how you get those weird character strings, which are really painful to listen to through TTS.
