I know--I just found the name of the Victorian female photographer Dugdale mentioned in regard to Carlisle's photograph: her name is Julia Margaret Cameron, and she's really fascinating. Also, not only do I still have a copy of the article Sacks mentions, where he had a bunch of blind people twll him he got what they saw completely wrong, I mentioned it in my thesis.
