Related: my sister once convinced someone that the french term "roux" (flour and butter paste) pronounced rue, was pronounced with a hard X on the end. Don't know how to write that phonetically, but she was very amused for a few days until she told the fellow chef she had pranked him.
I would have thought a semester of French culinary terms would be a part of training... Speaking of training, my screen reader program can recognize various languages such as French and German, so when I run across a Web page or such with French on it, my screen reader starts to read it; sometimes I think of trying to turn off this "feature," but it is so trippy that I keep for cheap entertainment.
