Someone from Boston Medical Center phoned me yesterday regarding patient feedback I had given in an online form that part of their online form was inaccessible with my screen reader.

The person calling was the head of a department in which I had recently had surgery, and she thanked me for my feedback and said that they had just rolled out the new version of the online form recently, and hadn't even expected to receive feedback from anyone yet. I gave her some recommendations for accessibility sites and live people who could better diagnose the issue.

Most of the online form was very accessible, except for the last page, which asked for comments and which was mostly an edit field. I kept getting popped out of the edit field and every time I did, it put me back on the page for teh previous question, which I had to answer again before it would advance back to the last page, which included the button to submit the form. This happened three or four times in a few minutes.

The dept. head told me that hse had told her dept. that this was a priority issue.

I almost cried at the mention that someone considered accessibility a priority issue.

I think I diagnosed why I have been feeling so exhausted and depressed for the past few days.

I had been thinking it was due to having had minor surgery a couple weeks ago, though it seemed odd that I felt great for the first week. Then yesterday I had a dental appt. and my blood pressure was really low, low enough that the dentist almost reconsidered doing the filling.

But the low pressure made something tick into place, and when I got home I googled propranolol side effects and, yes, side effects can include weakness and tiredness, insomnia and nightmares, all of which have been a big issue in the past week.

I take propranolol to help prevent migraines and, since I have had a significant increase in migraines this summer, my neurologist increased the dose by 20 mg the day before my surgey. I hadn't thought of it previously because I had never experienced any side effects to the propranolol before, while I always feel exhausted and depressed for a few weeks after surgery.

I've gone back to my previous dosage and will just deal with the migraines, because having no spoons and feeling depressed kicks my ass worse than the migraines.
