Kvetching medieval monks

Kes: I'm sure there must be a science fiction story where a sect of monk scribes discovers computers; can anyone help me with actual stories? Did Babylon 5 do a story like this? And am I the only person who feels tingles whenever she reads the word "marginalia"?
