Sometimes the aerye is a little scary
Oct. 4th, 2011 10:57 amMy accessible HD radio is very cool, but recently it has kind of creeped me out since it began addressing me by name.
The radio loses the time whenever we have a power outage, but it is only after the most recent outage that I noticed the radio voice saying, specifically, "Kestrell, please set the time."
It's not a very smart radio, but initially I told myself that Alexx had found some way to program in my name when he set it up.
However, when I demonstrated it to him this morning, he denied ever doing anything like that, and additionally agreed that it did indeed seem to be saying "Kestrell."
Creepy. Coooool. Creepy. Coooool.
If I could figure out how to do it, I would try to get it to say "Kestrell, come home".
This is not the first time my HD radio provided me with an October moment: recall that last year soon after I received my HD radio, I briefly thought that the synthetic voice which the HD radio uses was beginning to improvise additional dialogue. Then I realized that the voice for this radio commercial

sounds almost identical to the voice on my HD radio (my radio doesn't have the accent, but otherwise it is identical).
