The Closet of Mysteries

That's what I call the big closet in the hall which I intend on decluttering today--or, rather, beginning to declutter, since it's a pretty vast closet (many spaces in the attic, including the aerye itself, seem to have non-Euclidean architecture).

It's been a while since I played the aerye's theme song, so here it is.
Note: I've discovered a way to use wildcards when speaking to Alexa: in this example, I could remember the full name of the performer, so I just said the first part of his name, like this:
Alexa, play The Attic by Professor ...
But you could also leave that little silent beat--it should be the same length it would be to say the word you can't remember--in the Alexa command, like this:
Alexa, play the Attic by ... Elemental
Here's the song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvLqgwu-XHI

comments

Signs of spring!

There's a bird riot going on outside my window! They are definitiely awake and active. And probably fighting over some bird babe. Why does the cycle of life have to happen right outside my window.

I've spent the last couple of days decluttering the aerye. It's been on my to do list for the past six months: writing, Zoom meetings, webinars, courses, and virtual Mardi Gras kept me pretty busy.

There are additional benefits to decluttering, aside from a lighter, cleaner personal space:
1. It's very soothing.
2. It gives you an excuse to blast your music (in case you needed one).
3. You find stuff you haven't been able to put your hand on in a while, so it's almost like getting new stuff. Yesterday, I found my favorite pair of
Gingher embroidery scissors that I haven't been able to find for the past six months.
4. It's a chance to say, yes, that was a fun and interesting phase of my life, and I learned a lot from it, but I don't think I need to keep the clothes and the cheap jewelry in order to keep the memories. Btw: does anyone want a PVC dress and a pair of 5-inch heeled Mary Janes?

comments

The upside of cleaning

Not only can you find your stuff a lot easier, but you rediscover things you haven't seen in months, like your favorite pair of Gingher embroidery scissors and you "Laissez le bon ton roulez" tshirt from New Orleans, the one with the drag queen skeleton on it.

comments
