I once had a long conversation with a couple of other women at a party where we went through all the fanfic stories in which library ladders and other library furniture (I remember, one had Giles on a library table) were found, either because we found them online or we wrote them ourselves. During the entire lengthy conversation, there was a man sitting across from us just staring at us, I couldn't tell if he was impressed or appalled. I think up until then he had mostly thought of us as rather reserved bookworm types.
Library ladders show up in all of my best stories. I posted one to an erotica writing list once, and a man said "That isn't possible on a library ladder!" and two female librarians said, "Yes, it is."

Sadly, if you ask Alexa to use "pursuant" and "arithmancy" in a sentence, she either loses the thread completely, or begins throwing out the word "precocious," which perhaps isn't a mistake.
