Introducing 3- 8-year-olds to Voiceover on the iPad

Many years ago, a man with a blind toddler asked me when should he introduce her to computers, and I said, "Now." The next question is, how does a sighted parent begin familiarizing a young blind child to using a computer? The book,

I wondered how borked a site would have to be to prevent you from downloading something.

The sad part is that the first time I tried to obtain the ebook, I spent ten minutes filling out the online form--it's also one of those sites that doesn't have a checkbox for saying your billing address is the same as your mailinging address--so when I got an error message, I was too frustrated to fill out the form again, because of course I assumed it was my fault. Then I reconsidered and asked Alexx to fill it out for me, and he emailed the owners after finding out it was a website error.
So basically this is an example of another form of inaccessibility, which, failing to maintain your website.
Just as an aside, I was looking at an usability guide, and was finding all these items in the usability checklist that I still experience all the time, so I checked the copyright date, thinking it would be recently. It was from 2012. So yes, these really basic checklist ways to make your website accessible that guides have been talking about for the past decade are still common accessibility issues.
Argh.
