I now know that when Outlookk Express asks if you would like to compact your e-mail, "compact" is used in the sense of compacting as in deleting, as opposed to, you know, compacting as in the sense of making smaller. Ultimately, I guess it did render my inbox much less full while sparing me the emotional turmoil of deciding if I thought that e-mail was important or not.

However, as our home network was down for a couple of days, if you sent me e-mail recently I probably haven't had the opportunity to read it and, if it was something you believe I should be aware of, you should resend the e-mail.
